Boat Trip Along Canals Of Life

The Thai House Homestay & Cooking Classes is located in Bang Yai in Nonthaburi province some 25 kilometres from central Bangkok – a short distance but a very distinctive difference from the city itself. This is residential town that have both modern touch and greenery area where Chao Praya River acts as divider of these totally difference characteristics.

The hustle and bustle of busy life spread only until the eastern bank of Chao Praya River. Once crossing the river to the western bank, you can feel the peaceful and enjoy the green view. The Thai House is located on this side.

Everything guests might need is close at hand including food stalls, supermarkets, as well as typical markets.

Boat Trip to Wat Ta Khian Floating Market

In Wat Ta Khian Floating market you can try a lot of local snacks. Shop fresh vegetables and fruits from gardens and farms nearby.Sellers are mostly people living around the markets. Many put their products on the boat. It’s surely a scenic and yummy trip!

Please note: On weekends and national holidays Wat Takien market will be most lively.

Food around here

At the end of our lane, there is a small restaurant that have a variety of food offered almost 24 hrs.

  Morning 06:00 – 10:00 a.m.

  • Congee and rice soup with pork

Midday 10:00 a.m. 15:00 p.m.

  • ​Rice noodle with curries – fresh rice noodle topped with savoury curry of your choice. There are green curry with chicken, fish curry, bean sauce and more.  

Evening 18:00 p.m. until midnight

  • Noodle with grilled pork

  • Thai Chicken Rice (Khao Man Gai)

  • Soya bean milk, ginger tea and steamed toast with pandanus custard

Wat Pra-ngern localmarket

Service hours: opens daily06:30 a.m. – 20:00 p.m.

​

In this market you can find fresh ingredients for cooking, grocery and ready made food.
The most lively time is around late afternoon until early evening. During this time all the shops are opened and you can find a big varieties of freshly cooked meals, deserts, cool drinks and more!

Opens daily 08:00 a.m. – 20:00 p.m.

A community mall in walking distance. There are many food stalls, pharmacy, laundry shop, supermarket, ice cream shop, coffee shop, restaurant.

How to get around

By road

By arrangement, guests can be transported by car or mini-bus to and from the Thai House from either of Bangkok’s airports, its main railway stations, bus depots or hotels.Taxi is also easy to find.  

By sky train

With Bangkok train system, guests of The Thai House have a fast, trouble free, air-conditioned route into all major areas of Bangkok.

  • Bang wa Station (sky train Silom line): this is the nearest station to get to Sukhumvit area. It is 25 minutes away by car. 

  • Talad Bangyai Station (MRT – purple line): this is the nearest station to get to Chatuchak Weekend Market. It is 15 minutes away by car.
