A tour on the local khlong network
|
| "Cha,cha" (slowly,slowly)
is the key word here. However, Lung Wei knows what
you want to see and nowhere in the Bangkok region
will you find a more exotic excursion. |
| Bangkok was known as the "Venice of the East"
until rather recent times when they started to fill
the khlongs,to build roads and expand the city.
Most of the large expanse between the Chao Phraya
and the Nakon Chai Si Rivers were islands up until
about 20 years ago. At that time they started a
road network. However, there are still large parts
of this area where people have no access to the
roads and life unfolds as it has for centuries. |
| Lung Wei brings you close to the local people
and culture. He also knows where to spot the monitor
lizards (Resembling Commodore Dragons), huge fish, the
ice-cream boat and all other essentials for those
that live their entire life on the khlong. |

| Long-Tail boats |
| Visitors can also go to/return home from Bangkok
with a long-tail boat (somewhat larger than Lung
Wei's boat). These boats are used by local people
to go to work in the morning and to return home
in the evening. IF you choose to go with the locals
(one of the 30 that pile into the boat). you will
see a side to Bangkok that few visitors see. Long
tail boats travel between Bang-Yai (near Thai House)
and Tha Chang(Grand Palace) from 6:00 to 8:00 in
the morning and 4:00 to 6:00 in the evening. |
| |
| Long-tail boats can also be rented for longer
excursions. |
